Slub, Slubby, Slubbiness
A soft thick nub in yarn that is either an imperfection or purposely set for a desired effect. Slub is textured and differs in thickness throughout. Loom chatter is created when the loom is set to a low tension level so the loom literally shakes during the weaving process creating fabric that is naturally uneven. When loom chatter is combined with yarn spun with irregularities the result is a deep slub loose weave full of character.
